Bad service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Had them replace my transmission. I would have used ANYone else, but they finance.

They took the old transmission, put it in a thin cardboard box and tossed it in the back of my suv, and didnt tell me.

Took a corner and it rolled, broke some of my trim, and spilled transmission fluid all over the upholstery.

And broke my antenna.

Which is no where near any place they had to work to do this job

And on top of they they were way way WAY off about the final cost.

So its like this. Im an rookie mechanic. Basic stuff no problem. This transmission is very easy to replace, the one I purchased even came with a new torque converter, all they had to do is bolt it on, connect some hoses, connect the wiring harness and fill it up with new fluid.

Shazam, easy. If I had a lift I could have done this myself in three hours.

They charged me almost 900 fricking dollars.

Car left unsecured and stolen/totaled in broad daylight

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Do business with these AAMCO people 2228 N Washington Blvd., Sarasota, Fl. at the at your own risk.

I took my car in for service on October 27, 2020. They finished the service and parked it unlocked in their front lot. A drugged woman stole my unlocked car from their business in broad daylight, drove away and totaled it by losing control and rolling it over onto another vehicle. The management there first suggested I knew the woman (I don't) and then told me that because I was not there when the theft took place, I couldn't really say they left the car unlocked.

To add insult to injury, the owner presented me with a bill for the work they said they performed on the vehicle they allowed to be stolen.

Basically, make your own judgment after reading this.

I know I'd never use or recommend the place because of the negligence.

I can also provide police incident report numbers to validate this story.

If I could give them minus stars..... Car left

Preferred solution: Underwrite the opportunity cost of replacing my vehicle. The insurance didn't cover replacement cost. Apology might be nice, too.

I have tried to talk too and call multiple aamco centers as well as corporate. I really would hate to waste a whole bunch of time jumping through hoops with better business bureau and consumer fraud. I still just dont understand how parts built to last for awhile fail this close from a rebuild.

Original review Sep 01, 2020
My transmission suddenly failed on me in less than 30,000 miles from a rebuild. This is the manual jeep compass 5 spd transmission. I am proficient in the art of driving a manual transmission and I can rebuild them. I don't understand why I am having parts fail that should have lasted more than 75,000 miles. I am fairly upset with my experience and hope as a business aamco can compensate for their lack of workmanship.

Horrible service and did not complete my repairs

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

stay away!! DO NOT GO TO THESE PEOPLE FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!

I had some work done on my 2006 Cadillac SRX last August and when i left the shop the undercarriage guard was not properly reinstalled on my vehicle and subsequently the engine guard fell off i ran over it and broke it, I called the shop and they said would order one ASAP and install it on my vehicle, i have called and gone down their to complain and see what is going on with my repair.

When i would call down there the secretary would say the owner is with a customer now and would get back to me, still to this day 1 year later i have not got my car fixed correctly, and i remind them that im a customer also and my car isn't fixed correctly and i would not recommend these people to work on *** if it was broke! so steer clear of these idiots if you don't want to get ripped off!

Dealer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Dealer mis diagnosed my cars issues then charged me to rebuild transmission. After rebuilding my transmission was leaking. Mercedes told me the leak was Viking from the transmission. Took car back and they misdiagnosed the issue again. Saying it was a 2k job when it was a bad oring inside the transmission that should have been replaced. They diagnosed the leak as a different part and with all the bad reviews Ive since found online from the dealership, the turn over and horrible management and customer support I do not feel comfortable with them doing anything more to my car. Id like to have a different Aamco work in my car as they were not equipped to work in a Mercedes s550 and ended up having to have a company in Carolina rebuild. I am not comfortable at all with the owner or dealer as every other dealership has given great customer service to me and done everything to get me a correct diagnostic. The employees who worked on my cane as well as the manager are no longer there and the owner is just reading false diagnostics in his notes.

I was given a price of $2800 to rebuild my transmission and I said okay to allow them to take my transmission apart for a labor price of $880 and the balance $1,920 would be due at the completion of the rebuild. Now I am being coned into paying more after allowing them to take my transmission apart. Please can someone in your corporate office investigate this matter. I feel very frightened for my life at this moment even talking to these guys. I went through AAMACO your website to find these guys!

Defective workmanship

I brought my 2002 Explorer in a little over a week ago for a transmission service. The very next day in the morning my car would not go in gear I brought it back to them the following day after I called them and told them having a problem. They checked and said I need a transmission and they offer financing interest free And that the flu was full and it was nothing I can do. Also the technician said to drive the vehicle that way. its an old car and theres a lot of miles on it, but I have a rebuilt transmission in there. and was trying to do preventative maintenance. my name is Damon Parthesius my cell number is 516 633-**** if somebody can get back to me I would appreciate it also i Took the truck to mechanic specialist shop to diagnose The problem it turned out the the AAMCO technician improperly installed the transmission filter and ripped one of the seals. and it wind up costing more money. Id like to be reimbursed and made whole again before I escalate my complaint.

Ruined catalytic converter

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Nov 30, 2020

No one has contacted me from Aamco. It is bad enough that the manager was the one who damaged the catalytic converter when he revved the engine high and I lost power to the whole car. My husband and I are paying over $4,000 with the principle and interest only to think...

Original review Oct 29, 2020
Took car to local center for leak check after cooling system repair. Leak fixed no charge.

I knew about the misfire I had and was having someone change plugs and coils. The manager asked me about and I told him I was taking care of that issue. He proceeded to rev the engine. I got less than a 1/4 mile from shop and had loss of power.

I walked back to shop and let the manager know what happened. It got checked out and they check to find the problem. The catalytic converter was clogged, they banged out what was clogging it. I NEVER had a problem until I took my car here.

Car will not pass smog now.

Will never go back. They rip people off by recommending finance company that charges 152% interest rate.
