Failure to repair | Aamco review from Phoenix, Arizona

When the linkage failed on the transmission that Trans Action total car care experts fixed on 10/17/2012. I took it to be fixed and they told me that "The linkage is not part of the transmission" He then started going on about "When you buy (something) something else isn't part of the original something". Like that has anything to do with him trying to cheat me out of the cost of the repairs for his inferior job on the repair of the transmission that is supposed to be under warranty. This whole operation is a rip off and I was treated like a fool.

Customer | Aamco review from Surprise, Arizona

The surprise az AAMCO store provided poor service and tried to charge me for same action i paid 1999.00 for. I had leakage and burning smell, took back to AAMCO, repaired the leaky seals and later vibration felt. Returned to AAmco and they stated a carried bearing was broke. I asked them to produce the part, they stated they had no idea where it went, i then proceeded to the dealer, i found poor workmanship on AAMCO part. it took AAMCO almost a week to repair and Dealer one day. I tried calling customer service and have yet to receive a call back. I will never recommend aamco to repair anything. unlike Big O i been a loyal customer for 15 year. To bad one apple will spoil a whole bunch, i have divert 26 customers by informing them of AAMCO's service.

Horrible Service | Aamco review from Springfield, Massachusetts

My car was brought in to have the transmission fixed. Got the car back a month later and it broke down within two weeks. Many excuses throughout the month about why it was not ready. No apology, more excuses after it was brought back the second time. AAMCO delayed the car pick-up time twice. Car still does not work right. I am done with my complaint but apparently I need to enter at least 100 words in order to submit it. Soooooooo...it appears that the AAMCO philosophy is very poor service and poor customer service throughout the varying locations.

First off I am sorry you were not happy with the service we provided for you. You have failed the fact that you were unavailable and emails due to out of area network were the only way to communicate to convey changes, and procedural accountable work verification per AAMCO.

You needed your truck for work, etc, and yes the fluid for an NV3500 is expensive and it is not recommended to substitute due to the negative effect and corrosion that can happen from the sulfur content and have chemical reactions to some of the internal metal hard parts.

If you look up the average repair for this type transmission most shops charge up to 3200..

By the way you might want to look at your repair order again to refresh everyone here...the fluid was 100.00 and I credited you with a discount of 100.00 because your were upset with me using Dodge recommended fluid...and the total of your repair order with taxes was 1928.81....

Sometimes no matter how hard we try to help people in this economy it is never good enough..

Very bad service | Aamco review from Seattle, Washington

I took my car (Toyota Corolla) to AAMCO at Auburn, Washington for fixing my front brakes since I got a coupon from AMAZON LOCAL. They said it will take 2-3 hours for replacing the brakes so I left my car and came back after 2 hours. When I arrived it was already fixed and they said ready to go. Besides the coupon they charged me $11.49 for replacing the rotors. They didn't called me before replacing it so not sure whether they actually replaced it. Anyway when I drove back home I was hearing loud grinding noice and it was so annoying. So I went back to AAMCO and they said this is normal when you replace brakes and it will go away soon. But that was not the case, I was hearing noice again even after driving several miles. The next day I took my car to the toyota dealer and asked them to fix this and they charged me $199. I called Amazon local about this problem and they told me they will refund the coupon amount. Not sure about $11.49 AAMCo charged for rotors??Is the rotors so cheap? I will have to investigate about this.....never even go to AAMCO again...

Interesting | Aamco review

I thought I would push a post here which is a general all around thank you for those of you who posted here and those who built and monitor this site. I recently found myself in need of transmission work and started calling around. After I got my estimates in I was dead set at having Aamco do my work. but considering the work I needed which was several thousand dollars I figured I would go see what everyone else was saying about them. the research i did ultimately led me here. regardless here is the crazy *** I got out of Aamco I called around and got an estimate for the work (site unseen) at 2200. I thought excellent 10 year unlimited mile warranty. Then I thought. man that is too good to be true and called another aamco who quoted me all over the board up to including 7,000 for a *** transmission when new from the dealership they are under 4K. this board and that conversation saved me from the pain you are all going through. I'll never go there. Thanks guys - keep up the good work.

If you look through these complaints, you can gauge the level of intelligence of the complainer. The complainers and the site owners are obviously very sad people.

The biggest problem is that they just don't (or can't) listen to what they are told.

And, many folks here are used to living an entitlement lifestyle and believe it carry's forward to all parts of their lives. Very sad, and our current folks in DC just make it worse.

@Take it from where it comes

Obviously your intelligence could use a little boost. Aamco replaced my transmission with one that supposedly had 80,000 miles on it.

Long story short, the transmission they put in it actually had 196,000 MILES ON IT!!!

They are being sued left and right for fraudulent practices. Open your eyes and do a little research and you will see how deceptive they are!!

Horrendous Repair Workmanship | Aamco review from Los Angeles, California

April 18, 2011, I paid Inglewood AAMCO $2,465.93 to fix my transmission. When AAMCO returned my car, the car was leaking transmission fluid and still kicking hard at 30 and 50 miles per hour. In the process of fixing my transmission, mechanic and owner informed me of other work they found that needed attention. I paid for all other work as I was told the needed work was urgent. Of course, in the meantime, my transmission continued to leak and kick. I repeatedly took my car back to AAMCO. They have the records to prove the number of times I've taken my car back to them over and over and over again. I once took my car to them and was given a loaner for an entire month while they worked on my transmission. And subsequently, every time I took my car back it was for the transmission fluid leak and hard kicking at 30 and 50 mph. In a whole month, they couldn't stop the transmission fluid from leaking out. Another thing I noticed was their inability to retain mechanics. My car was worked on by no less than--if not more than--4 different mechanics. A friend of mine once worked for this particular AAMCO shop and was told he would be let go if he couldn’t keep his uniform clean. My friend told me the owner was more concerned with dirt on the mechanic's uniform than he was with workmanship. My friend checked my car out for me, and one of the things he found was that the wiring had been completely messed up. He said I needed a new wiring-harness due to the carnage AAMCO made of the wires. Oh, and lying on his back, on the ground, under my car, outside of my house, my friend stopped the transmission leak, late last summer, 2012. My last encounter with AAMCO happened when I, again, took my car in for kicking and leaking (prior to friend fixing leak). They kept my car for about a week, making me pay for a rental car. My car was then returned to me with over-heating problems. My car had no over-heating problems prior to or throughout my AAMCO experience until that day. Without the owner's knowledge, the mechanic told me to bring my car back in, and in less than 60 seconds (knowing he had caused the over-heating problem), he went directly to the problem and corrected it. AAMCO use to offer a life-time warranty. Now they only offer an 18 month warranty, keeping you coming back over and over until the warranty is no longer effective. I was told, in a most snooty manner, that I was "extended every courtesy." Well, I would prefer AAMCO keep their courtesy and just fix my transmission for which they were paid $2,465.93. I'm told that for that kind of money, I could have had a brand new transmission put into my 1994 Volkswagen Jetta, plus a rebuilt engine. These guys do shoddy, sloppy, careless, reckless, unprofessional work, taking your money while the owner smiles and offers you "every courtesy." Today I've found that due to the kicking and jolting my transmission has been doing since I first went to AAMCO (and then leaving on a bad note) that all the transmission fluid leaked out of my car overnight and will not hold any new fluid. It just pours straight out as it’s poured in. I'm lodging my complaints with AAMCO's corporate office and with the California Attorney General's office. My advice to anyone looking at AAMCO for transmission work: Save yourself the aggravation and take your car to a place that cares more about their work than the dirt on their workmen's uniforms. In these poor economic times of job scarcity, what exactly does it take to keep a good mechanic? It's likely that at AAMCO, the mechanic that starts the work on your car will not be the same mechanic finishing said work. Who exactly can you hold accountable--other than the owner? He knows absolutely nothing about the work his mechanics perform. Well, now that I've spent $2,465.93 for the repair of my car, I find myself taking the bus to work.
