AAMCO took advantage of a widow ,and lied

I stopped at Aamco ,in Humble on 1960 in May. My car was jumping when I started off and my check engine light was on. I had my 87 year old mother with me ( my dad 92, was in the hospital) I needed not to get stranded some place so I trusted Aamco to be honest with me. Jay told me he would put it on the machine and do a free check. 30 min's after we arrived he comes in the waiting area and says" Good news...all it needs is the transmission flushed and that would cost 195.00...I said ...Are you sure that is all that is wrong? and hesitated because of the 195.00...He said.." I'll tell you what...if that doesn't fix it "Ill give it to you for free!"...I said then OK...! 1 hour later he comes back in the area and said well that didn't work...BUT I STILL HAVE TO CHARGE YOU...He said he would then give me the 195. off of pulling the transmission...But he could not tell me how much then we would be talking about. NOW I DO NOT TRUST HIM AT ALL AND FELT HELPLESS IN A MANS WORLD....BUT he flat out lied about doing the work for free...IS THIS THE WAT AMMCO TREATS ALL IT'S WOMEN CUSTOMERS THAT ARE WIDOWS.

The worst part of this is: you think you should be treated special. You are not special.

You should have denied to pay him anything if he told you it was free. Did you sign paperwork saying it was free?

I don't think there's ever been a problem in the history of cars that was fixed by a transmission flush.

Aamco Held My Car for 15 days+ for 3 day job

AAmco is the absolute worst place to go for your car on the face of this planet! I had to have my transmission rebuilt and they took my car in and said the work would take 3 days. Here i stand on day 15 and my car is still in their possession. I have no confidence in the work they did and they are completely and utterly incompetent! First they said the work was complete after 5 days (2 days late) and said it finally just needed a test drive to ensure everything was done. once they did that, they said it wasn't shifting correctly. Something was cut that shouldn't have been. Another 5 days. Day 10- test drive and they say something is leeking! he figures out that the car is leaking transmission fluid. He guesses that it's a certain thing causing the leak and replaces it. Turns out, it was something else. Now they are attempting to purchase the actual piece that is causing the leak and for a well known company, it sure takes them a long time to obtain a piece from a store that's down the street! So here i stand on day 15 with no car! DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!

I recently took my Jeep Cherokee into an Ammco Transmission center to have the transmission fluid changed; a simple preventative maintenance job. As I sat in the waiting room they brought out a bent and mangled dipstick tube that runs to the transmission fluid pan....

Funny I've never seen a transmission that requires removal of the dipstick tube to remove the trans pan for a simple service. ....

something smells like bull shi* 20 years in the automotive industry and yeah reeks of bs.

Sounds like a standard form letter, even a rookie should be able to tell whether a U-Joint is bad or not. Standing by an erroneous diagnosis, that is proven incorrect by a (presumably) more qualified technician is just more bloviating, i have years in transmission shops, and as my name implies i am ASE master certified, with A9 L1 and L2 certifications.

loose torque converter bolts would be noticeable with the vehicle in park. U Joints would only be noticeable when in gear and drive shaft moving. you need new QUALIFIED techs, as the 2 diagnosis take completely different test sets.

Having worked for many AAMCO shops i am quite familiar with the checklist front and back. and the reality is most dont bother following it, mainly because an EDS takes an hour (done properly) and its all about banging the customr for as much as possible, as quickly as you can herd them in.

As the owner of the AAMCO Car Care in Pt Pleasant, NJ I am disappointed in your dissatisfaction over our recommendation, specifically the cause of a noise/vibration. These symptoms many times can be difficult to pinpoint especially when the vehicle has had major modifications for non-standard heavy duty off road use as is the case for this vehicle.

Furthermore the fact that the noise you refer to was intermittent made the diagnostic even more complicated. None the less, our Multi-Point Inspection confirmed multiple noises and vibrations including an obviously bad rear universal joint. A badly worn universal joint can cause a dangerous driving condition. Therefore we recommended this issue be resolved before any other work is performed.

Since your response was that you would perform that repair yourself, we released the vehicle with NO charges due or paid.

I am pleased to hear that whatever steps you 've taken seem to have solved all or part of the problem, however we stand by our original diagnosis. I'd look forward to discussing the matter directly at your convenience.

Racist Owner | Aamco review from Los Angeles, California

AAMCO Transmission in Northridge CA. If you are Hispanic don't go there. I just witness the owner call one of his employees a big fat (Spic) I didn't know what that meant until now .spic [spik] Slang: Disparaging and Offensive a Spanish-American person. He was very rude to him luckily the guy had more respect after being called that and walked away even though it looked like he really wanted to knock him out. Me being a Latino I was offended by his words ... So for all of you Hispanics out there don't give them your business. There more transmission shops out there that are respectful and would be happy to have our business.

Aamco in Waukegan

It is a shame, when things get so bad that a person can no longer take his car to a mechanic for repairs without worring about what the mechanic is taking of their vehicle. I took my car to an aamco dealer in Waukegan, I guy kept my truck for 5 hours. After 5 hours he suggested the I allow him to give my transmission a power flush. After he returned my vehicle I notice that there was something wrong. This mechanic actually changed a part on my car without my permission. Be careful when you take your car this the mechanic. I am still trying to get something done about this situation.

AAMCO Transmissions, 1264 State Rt 23, Butler, NJ

Went in and explained that there was an issue that I was feeling and hearing with my transmission. Took them only a day or so to determine that it was the transmission bearings and quoted me $1400. I asked them to quote me on the cost of a new transmission, which after about 2 days they advised was about $2300. I gave them the go ahead for a new transmission and in total it had taken them just over 3 weeks to complete the job. 3 weeks!? Imagine not having your car for 3 weeks and on top of that they had only called me once during the entire process. Each time I had to stop in to ask what was going on. Only at the tail end did they call to advise that the parts were to arrive, then another call that they had arrived and that they should have it done in the next day or so. Call around and compare and get it in writing first before dropping it off here.

Rt 23 AAmaco in Butler screwed me good today... I brought my Truck to them..

I had a minor slip from 1st to 2nd... I signed in filled out some paperwork and was told to sit... The Mechanic walked into the waiting room and said the truck is not moving. I said ***....

I just drove it here... The mechanic to me in my truck for a test ride... I said it runs with a minor slip from 1st to 2nd. We pulled into a parking lot....

The mechanic put the truck in park and began revving the motor and shift from park to drive to neutral to reverse.... I said what the *** are you doing... He said a trans test... ***...

You never floor the petal and shift gears the terrible for the trans... We were driving back to the garage and I saw his foot on the brake as he was driving.... He cooked my trans deliberately... Left my truck disabled on Booton ave...

I was pissed.... The mechanic got out and pretty much knew he was busted.... I then Walked to the garage and said you cooked my

trans... The manager then said my trans was bad before I came in....

I explained the slip was minor and you abused my trans deliberately....

My best advice to anyone who will listen is.....

Stay away from AAmaco in Butler on rt 23... They are cooks.....
