Aamco messed up my car.

On or about August 3, 2011. I noticed my transmission in my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee would not shift into any gears besides 1st. I took it to my regular mechanic. He took a look and He said he did not do Transmission work. So, I had the car towed by AAA to AAG, Inc. d.b.a. Aamco on 8-3-2011. I was informed by the customer service manager Paul that it was a broken snap ring inside the pan, and it would be a $400 fix. The ok was given to proceed with the repair. The following day I received a call from Paul saying they found "metal Shavings" in the pan, and that they had to take out my transmission and replace it with a rebuilt one. The cost was then $2200. This was on or about 8-9-2011. I approved this repair. I picked my car up on 8-10-2011. On Sunday 8-12-2011, and after only driving my car a matter of less then 5 miles, my car wouldn't start. I had AAA tow it to my house. I called Paul on Monday and he said to bring it in. I had it towed again by AAA to his shop. He told me he did a diagnostic on the car and the code that came up was a P1389 (the ASD relay), and they "checked all the fuses" and it wasn't that. Then he stated that they "didn't know how to fix it, and that I should take the car to the dealer because it was probably the computer brain." I then that day had my car towed back to my house to do research and decide what the best course of action would be. A friend of mine suggested that his mechanic from Rolls Royce (who happened to be at the end of my street) come up to my house to have a look. I agreed. That mechanic brought very little with him but what seemed to be a screw driver, however this screw driver would light up when it touched different fuses. He found that the fuel injector fuse was blown. (Also keep in mind Paul stated that his mechanics checked all the fuses.) Barry (Rolls Royce Mechanic) replaced the fuse and after cranking the engine it blew again. So, he crawled under my car and said "I see the problem. When they worked on your transmission, they kinked the lume. One of the wires is grounding out on metal and blowing that fuse". He straightened the lume, unlodging the grounded wire. Barry again replaced the fuel injector fuse and the car started. I explained to Barry everything that had taken place with Aamco, and he said that he could find metal shaving in any transmission and it may have not even need to be replaced. I then received an invoice from Barry for the house call. I called Paul at Aamco and informed him of the findings. While the car was in Paul possession, I asked him if he could check out the passenger side door lock. It wasn't un-locking automatically. He reported it was the door lock actuator and a humming noise from the rear differential. I didn't have any repairs on the door lock at that time. While speaking with Paul about Barry's findings, I also mentioned that the passenger side door panel was loose and that they must have not put it back on properly. He denied that they had ever taken it off or even messed with my passenger side door panel. So it couldn't be there fault it was loose. He also said that there was no way his mechanics "kinked the lume" for the wiring while replacing the transmission. At that time I asked Paul if I could have my old transmission back. He stated that it had already been recycled. (Remember, this was only a few days after the initial replacement of my old transmission, and it was on a weekend. They are not open on weekends.) I shook it all of to a bad experience... Then, on Friday 9-30-2011 I was in a shopping mall parking structure. I reversed my car from a parking spot on the 6th floor and started down the spiral ramp towards the exit. The car cut off. I began to push my Jeep back up a slight incline to a parking spot so I could have a look. It was the fuel injector fuse again. I tried replacing the fuse myself, and it just blew out. So, I got down under the car and tried to see if a wire or "lume" was touching any metal again. However, this was 9pm and I really couldn't see well and didn't really know how to do it myself. So, I aborted that and called AAA having the car towed again. This time however, back to my neighborhood mechanic Julio. Saturday 10-1-2011, I called Julio in the morning and said "I know what the problem is, but I don't know how to fix it." I told Julio there was a wire that was grounding out and causing the fuel injector fuse to blow, Thus, causing the ASD (automatic Shut Down) relay to kick. Julio said he would get to it by Monday. That he would have to trace the wires to see where it was coming from. Julio called me today 10-4-2011. He said he fixed the wiring problem. They traced the wires back to the fuel injector #3 harness, and that Aamco "must have pulled the wires when they did the transmission". This was causing the fuse to blow, and the ASD relay to kick in, which shut the engine down on my car. Julio reset the computer and all is well... Except!!! Why did I have to pay the invoices for the other mechanics, when it was clearly the fault of Aamco for messing up the lume for the wiring? Also, why do I now have to pay for the repair on my passenger side door panel? Also, why did I have to go through all the abuse from aamco by them assuming no responsibility for their actions... Why doesn't AAGOn or about August 3, 2011. I noticed my transmission in my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee would not shift into any gears besides 1st. I took it to my regular mechanic. You live in a state with a B.A.R.... That's what they are for....although I doubt that they can get you millions of dollars for having to push a car.

Dont trust aamco

took my truck in to have my transmission looked at. they told me it was fried. no big deal except in the process they broke a brand new sift cable i spent 6 hours installing the day befor and would cover the $100 part. then they told me my flywheel was cracked. so iwent up there and said show me. sure enough it was cracked but there were obviouse tool marks on it but i got a new onefor free from a buddy so no big deal. then they comeback and tell me after i brought them a freshly rebuilt tranny for half the cost that they wanted that it was the wrong flywheel. so i went up there and what do ya know there "expert mechanic put it on backwards. not thrilled. ended up getting my truck back 2 days after expected at nearly double the estemated cost. bottom line is dont trust them. Ammco deserves to be put out of buisness!!!!!!!!!!!

AAMCO---"booked up thru next year"

I recently called the Annapolis location on 906 West St., Annapolis, MD. 21401. I think I spoke with RODNEY. I asked for an appointment to get an oil change and a tire rotation. I was told HE was just swamped that day with oil changes so HE had no openings through the end of this week, so I asked about getting an appointment for next week ---sorry booked all of next week; what about next month---booked through the end of the MONTH , actually, booked through the end of the YEAR. I have a REALLY tough time believing that ANY shop with ANY company doing auto work is EVER booked up completely four and a half months ahead of time--especially for an oil change!!!!!!! You can be sure that I will NEVER be having your company (even if another is close by) to do my oil changes and any other work that I will need in the future. I would not go back to AAMCO even if there was something you could do because I'd be worried about some "unrequested" work being done on my vehicle (that would later cause my vehicle major problems) because I reported this. I KNOW I WON'T GO TO AAMCO---even though your slogan says otherwise!!!!!!

Aamco not only does not fix the problem, they give out your personal information!!!

I have been a loyal customer of Aamco's for over three years.....In the past year and a half, my husband and I have paid them about 8k in auto repairs, and you'd figure that our cars would run like new...well they don't...as a matter of fact, everytime we've taken one of our cars to them , it take well over a week for them to fix the problem, and then we have to take the cars back because they still aren't running correctly.....on top of it all, My mother just tried to get credit with Aamco to fix her car, and she was denied....this company, who've I've been with for years, then decides to tell my mother to ask me because he believes that I have some room left on my credit cards.....he then proceeded to put her on hold to check the balance on my cards and then proceeds to inform her that I've paid my credit card off, so she could ask me to use my credit to get her car fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that it illegal to give out someone's personal information the way they did, and if I had legitamate proof, I'd be getting a lawyer right now, because believe me I'm ticked!!!!!!! I then call the Aamco consumer services center and get a voicemail....I left a voicemail and am waiting for them to call me back....I sure hope that they've enjoyed all my money, because they just lost this customer, and I will be sure to warn anyone I come into contact with NEVER to use Aamco...they are a bunch of scamers.

AAMCO will *** the consumer and the franchise owner

AAMCO is only out the get profits off their franchisee's, as a previous owner I got screwed by AAMCO home office. They actually recommended one of their own corporate workers to become our general manager, only to find out he was there to spy and literally take us down.

The only way for an AAMCO franchisee owner to survive is to screw it's customers. DO NOT ever take your car to AAMCO, they over charge. Before you take your car to an AAMCO check out the Better Business Bureau for complaints. Yes, AAMCO has been around for years but they are not what they think they are.

Total crooks!

Check out AAMCO lawsuits.com, it will show other previous franchisee owners went through the same thing. I literally had an awful center manager tell me that his customer made a mistake by saying she was going to pay her $3,000 repair bill with a trust account, once he heard that word he jacked the price up on her repairs, that is total ***, he only wanted to make the president's list, how pathetic!!!!

The History of : information hiosrty An automobile powered by a Otto gasoline engine was built in Germany by in 1885 and granted a patent in the following year. Although several other engineers (including Gottlieb Daimler, Wilhelm Maybach and Siegfried Marcus) were working on the problem at about the same time, Benz is generally credited with the invention of the modern automobile. The large-scale, production-line manufacturing of affordable automobiles was debuted by Ransom Eli Olds at his Oldsmobile factory in 1902.

This assembly line concept was then greatly expanded by Henry Ford in the 1910s. Development of automotive technology was rapid, due in part to the hundreds of small manufacturers competing to gain the world's attention. Key developments included electric ignition and the electric self-starter (both by Charles Kettering, for the Cadillac Motor Company in 1910-****), independent suspension, and four-wheel brakes.Although various pistonless rotary engine designs have attempted to compete with the conventional piston and crankshaft design, only Mazda's version of the Wankel engine has had more than very limited success.Since the 1920s, nearly all cars have been mass-produced to meet market needs, so marketing plans have often heavily influenced automobile design. It was Alfred P.

Sloan who established the idea of different makes of cars produced by one company, so that buyers could move up as their fortunes improved.

The makes shared parts with one another so that the larger production volume resulted in lower costs for each price range. For example, in the 1950s, Chevrolet shared hood, doors, roof, and windows with Pontiac; the LaSalle of the 1930s, sold by Cadillac, used the cheaper mechanical parts made by the Oldsmobile divisionSource:

I took my Honda Accord to this shop because Check Engine Light was on. This shop read the trouble code and said one of the switch was choked. I to the car to this shop for repairs, i was given the car without any repairs and charged me $468. The next day the check engine light came back on. I took the car back to him and asked for the refund my money back because the car felt like not even touched, he started yelling at me that i am calling him a layer. He did not refund the money

I checked our logs for aound this date in our computer. I do not see that we serviced a Honda Accord on or around that date.

As there is no additional information such as customers name, year of the Honda, what code was present and so forth. (I do not know what the customer means by "one of the switch was choked.") It is our policy to fix every car at a fair price.

We offer guatantees on all of our work. I can assure you that "he" did not "start yelling at me and caling him a 'liar'" While this review is rather old, I do invite the customer to contact us to see if we can be of any assistance.

I brought my car in for a leaky transmission and then they called me and told me that the Check Engine light was on and they needed an addition $600. Funny, it was not on before I brought it to them. When I went to pick my car up it was hesitation when I changed gears and my radio no longer worked. I called the corporate office and they told me that I had to bring it back to the same location. Hesitated, but brought it back and they stated that there was oil in my antifreeze, my transmission sensor needed to be replaced, the car could not go over 35mph and the car was over heating. They basically are rip off artists and have no idea what they are doing. long story short I have to buy a new car and their corporate office SUCKS when it comes to helping customers.

AAMCO in Turnersville, no clue

Took my truck there for a transmission leak. Usually do all my own work but had no time. I didn't have a recommendation, so gave them a shot. Got the truck back for the quoted cost, but service was sloppy and it was hard to tell if the leak had even stopped. Two days later that was answered. Leaking worse. They took it back and fixed again, and said it was a bad gasket. No charge. Well, no fix either. Still leaking. Took it back again today. This time of course it was something different. The transmission needed to be pulled out ($650) and THEN an I'd get an estimate. He did offer to apply the old bill to the new repair, but I have no confidence in their shop at this point. Beware. My son who is in the Army took his car to aamco for trans repair. They said it would cost 1700.00 to rebuild it.

It is in a 1992 Toyota camry.he said ok. They said 4days to do it. Guess what it has been a month and half and it still isn't done yet.

This is the shop in Killeen Texas. Time for a lawyer.

It's not that you are a woman...it's because you authorized repairs that you must have known that you could not pay for....most shops start charging storage after 3 days that a repair is completed....the shop payed for the parts, paid the mechanic to perform the repair, and you come in two weeks later with a small payment that would not even cover the expenses they have already had to spend to repair your car... They are not a finance company....geez...you really have to use some excuse(gender) instead of simply admitting that you think that people are obligated to solve your problems...

You are not a victim...you created this problem. Would you order food that you can't pay for....eat it all up......tell the diner that you will pay them as you are able ...then accuse them of sexism when they have you arrested for not paying for your meal.

Poor workmanship

I always do my own mechanical work, but I decided to let AAMCO of Columbus, Ga replace the front seal on my transmission, because I didn't have a lift, and it would have taken longer. I supplied the front seal and they did the work, cost me a little over $900. Two days later I picked my truck up and drove it home, didn't notice anything wrong. That weekend, we left our house headed for the store, got a mile and a half from the house and felt a shudder, I stopped to look under the truck, what I saw blew my mind. The drive shaft support bracket was hanging by one of the two bolts. I called the shop and told them to come pick it up and get it fixed; whick they did. The mechanic called me to apologize, seems a new mechanic did the work and missed something, he asked to keep it for a couple of days to go over it to see if anything else was missed. Got it back about a day later, seemed to be alright. I then took it on a four hour drive to see the family, when we got there, noticed some transmission fluid blown onto the tailgate and back of camper glass, crawled underneath and couldn't believe it, on of the transmission support bracket bolts was gone and the other three were loose, also the coller return line was loose which is where the fluid came from. I took care of all these issue myself, then a few months later I've begun to see some fluid on the back again; nto much, but enough to concern me. Now I've found that the upper dipstick tube is misaligned and not seated all the way, and the o-ring for sealing it is gone. AAMCO used to be a trusted name in transmissions, I regret ever letting them touch my truck.

As a previous franchisee owner, I was screwed by AAMCO, they only do dirty work!!! I had a mechanic install a drive shaft that was too short!!!

I caused the transmission to leak, my center manager took that and ran with it, he told them they needed a new transmission due to the short drive shaft, unbelievable!! Unless you are a crook you cannot survive in the AAMCO world. AAMCO home office only wanted their 7% on a weekly basis, yes we had to pay franchise fees of 7% every week.

AAMCO home office provided no support for that 7%, instead they created a take over division, to take over franchises that were struggling to only turn around and re-sell them for more than they are worth. Instead of supporting they stole, they are nothing but crooks and do very shady work.

AAMCO Takes Advantage of Women

On February 17, 2012, for safety I had my vehicle towed to Aamco. I contacted AAMCO via telephone (301) 776-****, located at 20 Washington Blvd, Laurel, Maryland 20707, Laurel, Maryland, that the vehicle would be towed because I believe the transmission was slipping. At this time my name, address and date of birth was requested by a representative, Bob. Once vehicle arrived; 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor reached AAMCO, Bob from AAMCO called, notified that they had received the vehicle and they would inspect vehicle to determine the problem and would call me on Monday February 20 because they had a backlog. He mentioned they would do diagnostic on the vehicle to determine what exactly the problem was. Monday, February 20, Bob notified that the transmission was gone and that it would cost $5,200 to rebuild the transmission. I stated that was entirely too high, why would I pay $5,200 for a rebuilt transmission, when I could purchase a new transmission from the dealer for $3,900. I told him that this price was ridiculous and I would come to retrieve my vehicle. He then notified me that I would have to pay $795 to put the transmission back in my vehicle. I was stunned because I never signed or gave authorization to have the transmission taken out of vehicle only to determine if the problem was the transmission. On Tuesday, February 21, a certified mechanic and I went to retrieve vehicle, only to be told that the price to rebuild the vehicle was $6,200 (the price changed) and $795 was due. The mechanic informed the shop that they didn't have to drop the transmission to determine if it was gone, they could have driven the vehicle or put on a machine and inform me that the transmission was gone and gave the cost. This was not done nor did I sign a contract. AAMCO is refusing to return my vehicle unless I pay them $795 to reinstall the transmission. At no point did I sign or authorize to have any work performed.

Not to go into too much depth but they neither know how or care if they know how to fix. They just want your money.

Cost me around 3200 dollars with these clowns. Went to court and won about 2 yrs. ago and won twice against them without a lawyer.....evidence was obvious...Still have not payed restitution..But they will..

:-) Needless to say they know every trick in the book when it comes to getting away with these scams of saying they rebuild things and don't. Even their coorporate headquarters is involved with training them on how to get away with their neglegence.

All Aamco's a privately owned as these two are owned by the same person.

If you go here you can't say you were not warned!!!!!

Your about "two years ago" in your October 2010 comment must have been back in 2008 or before, which is two owners prior to the current owners of the AAMCO's in High Point and Burlington. We know you would have a different and better experience with the current owners who have been there since April 2009 and March 2009, respectively.

It doesn't matter one bit who the "owner " is. Any aamco is a scam operation.

The "owner " is just the latest *** to buy into it.Most owners know nothing about the auto service industry, in fact its preferred by corporate that they dont.Notice in the above reply about the previous two owners. Its like a revolving door.Sap all the money out of one sucker then get the next one in.Its how the ownership part of it goes.

Best advice is to avoid this place and all like them. They use the cheapest parts at premium prices.Technicians are not certified at anything. Very shady business Avoid at all cost.

They WILL scam you

Shady shady shady. I went in for a simple oil change. I noticed something was amiss when I saw them jacking my car way up in the garage. One of the guys came in with this gloom and doom report from the mechanic that basically everything was wrong with my car and started listing off a bunch of stuff. Nevermind that I had not asked them to look at any of this and was only there for oil. Anyway, they said it was unsafe to drive and made a big show offering me a ride back to my place because my car was THAT bad. The place was getting ready to close, so I didn't really have much option but to leave it there or sign a waiver (gets them out of being sued for anything) to drive my car back home. I was suspicious, so I called my mechanic friend immediately upon leaving, and he said they like to pull that act a lot. He actually knew the guy that talked to me, so he agreed to come in with me the next day and find out the real deal. He looked my car over, and while it did need a few repairs, it wasn't as disastrous as they made it out to be, the car was still safe to drive until repairs could be made, and the report was largely inaccurate in places. His employee friend admitted that they've been having trouble with mechanics pulling stuff like that, so yeah...don't go to the new AAMCO even for an oil change.

The same thing happens at my local Ford dealer, and every other dealership that I have been to. Ever had your oil changed by JiffyLube?

The technician will always try and sell you a bunch of additional things that you "need". It's called "upselling" and everyone does it (including the restaurant when they try and sell you dessert).

To answer your qeoitsuns:1. Yes, people have tried it and although some claim it works, there is no scientific evidence to prove that it does.

How come some claim it does? Well because it is a giant scam which uses well-paid affiliates. These affiliates (very few of who actually have these systems in their cars) are told to lie about the system and claim they do have it. They make outrageous (untrue) claims such as it works for me, my gas mileage has improved from 18mpg to 28mpg since I fitted the device and direct people to a website where you're encouraged to buy a kit or book.

If you're silly enough to do so, the affiliate earns around $25-$50 (50% of the sale price). So it's no wonder they lie.2. It is not hard at all to convert your car but it is a complete waste of time because these systems will actually *reduce* your fuel efficiency. See the link I've provided for the reasons why this is the case.

You end up drawing more power from your engine than is returned by way of the gas that's generated and to create that extra power you have to burn even more fuel.3. It will neither increase the noise or power of your vehicle. In fact, you'll have *less* power because some of your HP will be wasted simply heating your alternator and the electrolysis cell (which can run 100 deg F or higher).4.

There *can* be ill effects. If the hydrogen gas flashes back into the electrolysis cell this can explode and spray water (usually with a dilute acid or salt) around inside the engine bay wetting your electronics and electrics plus producing a risk of the electrolysis cell shorting and creating a fire). The best source I can suggest is the link below where the nature of the scam is described and there is some very simple math to prove why these things don't and can't work. Please read the pages involved in this article and also tell your friends just in case they might be tempted to get taken-in by these conmen. And remember if it sounds too good to be true, it almost certainly is.
