Ripped me off | Aamco review from Woodland, California

I went to AAMCO to check out my tranny and they charged me $285 just to tell me that my band needed to be changed, and it would cost $2500 to fix so i started calling other shops and they said they would have check it for free and one shop would have charged $90 to check and to fix it would only cost 900 how can a company just take your money like that and get away with this, i called them to see if they would refund me some of my money and they told me no and hung up on me not very nice people

You can remove the trans and replace just the band, but there is usually other problems which result in an overhaul...unless you have low miles... I find it wrong that they charged that much money to tell you about your band unless its a ford explorer..here's why....you will skip gears on a shift....you have to verify the computer is sending the power to the solenoid....then you have to check the band adjustment...if that fails you have to pull the exhaust and verify that it's not just a broken servo...that all takes a lot of time...but any one of those things can cause the problem...if it was a broken servo piston for $400.00 they would have been hereos... Good diagnostics aren't cheap and most customers save money when the proper checks are done....sadly some shops will sell them an exchange trans when a minor repair can fix the car....you will find these good and bad things at every shop...find a mechanic you trust...the best way is to ask friends and the places that treat you well will usually have better mechanics ...the best mechanics are expensive...so stay away from shops that are the cheapest...they cannot afford good mechanics and bad diagnostics cost you the consumer

They ripe people off. They don't fix the problem, they adjust it so you have to go back and spend more money or you're basicly screwed!

:( I learned the hard way too.

They cost me my engine and now I'm out a car. always take the issure to BBB they are totally on your side.

AAMCO is a scam. I live in the Dallas area (Irving) and went through something similar.

I have never been so screwed over in my entire life. AAMCO's standard answer is there is too much fluid in the transmission and it's leaking from the axle.

I learned this after sinking $3,000 and at least a dozen trips back over a year's time because the tranny still leaked. Don't take your car to AAMCO...you'll regret it!

You made a huge mistake going there in the first place. Yes, they overcharged you and ripped you off on an item that should have only caused $90.

You're lucky they only got you for $285 instead of the THOUSANDS they would have reemed you for if you had kept your car there and agreed to the major repairs.

Aamco is, and always has been a scam. Don't fall for their clever TV ads. They're crooked thieves who know more about scamming then fixing transmissions.

But you did learn a fairly cheap lesson. Next time go to a real shop from the get go.

Aamco Customer Care
The mechanic scheduled the work for a Saturday and accepted only cash payment. Same mechanic later scheduled a Saturday to change a seal that I noticed was leaking, again cash only. 10 months later my brake line was leaking. Brought my car back to AAMCO. The new...

Wow. You got 5 years life out of your battery.

It died a natural death. The shop probably had nothing to do with it except to be the place where it went to the Great Beyond.

Unreal - Aamco Jacksonville Not Honoring Warranty

This is UNBELIEVABLE. I purchased the 3 year warranty after getting my transmission fixed on my Pontiac G6 at Aamco in Jacksonville at 8721 Atlantic Blvd. Only 9 months later, my transmission broke down again and I went back to Aamco to get it redone. They DIDN'T HONOR THE WARRANTY and REFUSED TO FIX MY TRANSMISSION. They claimed that the parts were faulty and that they are not responsible for the quality of 3rd party suppliers. After arguing with them back and forth for hours and hours, they continued to refuse to honor my warranty. I had spent $800 on this 3YR extended warranty and they STILL REFUSED TO HONOR MY WARRANTY. I ended up taking my car to another transmission shop and had to pay over $2500 to get it redone. FROM ONE CONSUMER TO ANOTHER - AVOID JACKSONVILLE AAMCO 8721 ATLANTIC BLVD.

AAMCO in Butler NJ the worst!!!!!!!

If your car breaks down in front of this place during a blizzard, push it somewhere else. These guys are total liars and will lie to you with a straight face and make you believe that they did you a favor in taking your money. They will say that they replaced parts, and when you look at the "new" part they replace it is still covered in the same old grease. They don't even bother cleaning up the old parts. This shows how *** they think we the consumer are. Stay Away!!!! Don't believe a word they say.

aamco in lighthouse point fl my 99 suburban with 103000 miles transmission went so i got a few ballpark prices over the phone and when i spoke with the manager brian he said it would hard to give an honest quote over the phone i asked for worst case he gave me a ballpark price so i had my truck towed to his shop. next day he said he could rebuild the tranny for a very good price better then what i was quoted over the phone by several other shops and was done the next day. its been 6 months now and all is good maybe better than ever.Brian and his crew were polite honest and stright forward.i would recomend them highly. Brian is an asset to this co. other aamcos could learn from him.

DO NOT USE AAMCO

I have a 1998 ford explorer. i knew that this particular vehicle has the worst rating for transmissions issues so i was prepared for the cost of repairing it. so when it finally when out i took it to aamco and they kindly repaired it for $1,900.00 with only a 90 warranty. So a year later it has a transmission leak. I'm frustrated that now they want to charge me 650.00 before they even look at it! YOu haven't done anything to inspect it and you want 650.00? Really? I shouldn't be here a year later with repairs when i haven't put barely any mileage on the tranmission overhaul you did a year ago! I will NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYBODY EVER!!!
