AAMCO Lauderhill FL has my car for a month!

I took my Mercedes in after they assured my they could rebuild the transmission. While my car was there it became unoperable due to a fuel problem they said and they cannot test drive it to check their work. My car was running fine and had no fuel problem whatsoever. I spoke to another mechanic at another shop and he told me the car needs to be reset and AAMCO doesn't invest in the necessary equipment to repair cars correctly. After one month I still don't have my car. I'm calling Help Me Howard at channel 7 news in Miami!!!

AAMCO - Transmission inoperable after less than 2 years!

In September of 2009 I had my transmission rebuilt in my Highlander for $4,654.51 at the AAMCO Flemington, NJ location. The owner/operator promised me my car and fell through on the delivery date. As I drove out of the shop, it was not operating correctly so I had to return the vehicle. They supposedly corrected the issue, however, the car never ran correctly and the service was so terrible I did not want to return. Now, less than 2 years later the transmission is doing the same thing and my car is not drivable. When I looked at my paperwork, I noticed there was an extended warranty I was not offered nor did I initial to decline. I am now taking it to another mechanic who I know and trust and who will install a new transmission with a 100,000 mile warranty. I am so dissatisfied I will tell everyone about my negative experience with AAMCO.

WARNING : Beware Aamco

I took my vehicle to Aamco to have the timing belt replaced. The timing belt did not break while I was driving ,so fact I would have NO engine damage. Not only did they mess up my engine( a new one cost the amount I paid for the car), I no longer have a car, THEY LIED in their report. They didn't provide a detailed receipt. They would not offer any resolution, no discount, no refund, no nothing. Had my car for over a week. Almost cost me my job because they failed to follow up with me on a realistic ready date.I could have borrowed a car. Kept telling me everyday my car would be ready. I had to call them. They only called me twice the whole time they had my car. They called to tell me my car was ready, and also left one message they were working on my car and it would be ready the next day. Which they failed to state that in their report. The time I picked up my car they failed to tell me anything was wrong, I picked it up about 11am (they say hope youre car runs good)and that SAME DAY I drove home and when I went to start up my car it didnt start. Immediately called them and told them it wont start I will have tow it in tuesday. when I got the message from them they were working on the car and would be ready the next day. I called them the next morning. They tell me I have no oil pressure and my cams are froze. Which is fault of them because they failed to tell me anything when I picked it up the first time. If youre car has no oil pressure you WILL hear a loud knocking from the engine. If he cams were damaged I would have never made it home. It would have locked up. I spoke with two LICENCED MECHANICS, they dont even know each other. They both tell me they either didnt know what they were doing, or just took me for a ride for money. SERIOUSLY. Im a single mom I work so hard I dont understand why this happen. They failed to provide the necessary customer service. I WORK in CUSTOMER SERVICE. They dont have any reality on a good customer service. They wont refund me, nothing. All they did was cost me my car and money, and told me to tow my car from their show.

My engine was fine before I took it to Aamco.

Lynette H Icp

I know the mechanics, they're not going to bash another shop just because.

Dave Tsq

1) Just because a belt does not break does not mean there is no engine damage.

2) Asking another mechanic means nothing, b/c your story you are relaying to them is not going to be 100% accurate and other shops LOVE bashing other shops, especially when they are a nationwide company.

Where is the shop located that you had the problem with?

Aamco in Butler NJ Issues unsafe Uhauls

Horrible, horrible experience with this Aamco in Butler, NJ. We rented a Uhaul truck from them to move up to New England. After 2 hours on the road, one of our tires blew. The service tech from Uhaul, CT came out to fix it, and informed us that the tire was completely dry rotted. Upset, but glad that it was fixed so we could continue on, we were only 20 mins down the road before another tire blew. The same service tech came back this time to replace 3 other tires, saying they were all completely dry rotted. Each time the tires blew the rubber completely came off and hit our parent's car behind us - causing us to swerve to get off the road, and shaking us all up quite a bit. The entire trip should have taken 5 hours, and instead it took 14. After failed attempts to get a response from Aamco, and multiple attempts at Uhaul themselves, we received virtually no help to resolve the matter, despite the fact that this Aamco in Butler clearly gave us a truck that was completely unsafe - and put all of our lives at risk. We will never use Uhaul again, and we will most definitely never trust this Aamco station with anything that we drive - as they obviously don't care at all for the well being of their customers.

For you to post this against AAMCO is ***! I dont work for or have ever worked at AAMCO but have rented uhauls at a shop and its not up to the shop that rents them to service or inspect them!

It is up to Uhaul! The shop that rents them is only to inspect for body damage, fuel and milage!

UHAUL is a garbage company and should be sued! Leave AAMCO out of it!

AGREEMENT WAS A TOTAL LIE.

2767 N Dixie Hwy Wilton Manors, FL... Called Aamco to ask what is the range of money amount for a transmission repair. Raul said: "between $200 - $1200." The verbal agreement was they pay the tow truck to take it to the shop and if we do not repair it with them, we pay for the tow truck back. That was the ONLY agreement and nothing else was discussed. In repair shops, the ethical procedure is; if the amount is more, customer has to be informed in writing to accept or decline. Now these people say repair costs $2000; MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH AND MORE THAN A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION! and if we don't repair with them, they keep the car. They want $500 to return the car. Or they will give me the car, but THEY KEEP THE TITLE. They are stealing cars. that is not the way to do business; to say one price and come up with double the amount. There was no written estimate and the verbal estimate was a lie.

Guilty of false advertising

I saw your ad on TV that said you will check the "Check Engine Light" for free. I called the AAMCO store on Sonoma Blvd. in Vallejo, CA and told them I had a car with the engine light on and would like them to check it out for me. They said they would buth there would be a $60.00 labor charge. As there is nothing else but labor to check the light the ad is not true. They are guilty of breaking the "Truth in Advertising Law". As I have been with the Better Business Bureau and also the Chamber of Commerce for many years I am letting everyone I know about this violation. You need to take this ad off the air immediately and issue an apology and also refund anyone who got taken by this false ad.

Aamco

I took my 98 Honda in because the transmission was leaking no problem with the transmission just leaking thinking no big deal to get it fixed at a place that specializes in transmissions. WRONG! The 1st owner of the Aamco told me that it would be $1,000 to fix it the leak because they had to pull the transmission to fix it. But the over all condition of the transmission was very good. I understood that cost of having to pull the transmission would be expensive and it would stop leaking. I agreed to let them to the work after all it a transmission shop. WRONG! Well 6 trips back its still leaking.

The owner of that shop goes out of business and new owner comes in. I explain to him my situation. He tells me that he has only be there 1 week and already has 4 other cars that he has to fix form the previous owner.

Well that new seal fixed the leak. WRONG! So I go back this is now my 8 trip back. And that guys gone.

So now I have to go though the whole deal with the 3rd owner of this one shop. He agrees to look at the transmission.

Now I am told that the 1st guy missed everything up in the transmission and he needs to rebuild the whole transmission. But he will fix the leak and I will have a whole new transmission after all this is a transmission shop. WRONG! But since I have had such a hard time with this he to it for $2,000. We I am all ready in the hole with Aamco for $1,000. And this guy seem to be honest, and Aamco is a big company and has been in business for years.

Well after the total rebuild and $2,000 the leak should stop.WRONG! Its still is leaking. I go back again. We can see where it is leaking now. We will have to order a part to fix it. OK I say. I go back the nest week. They tell that the parts dept. sent them the red part and I need the green part. But I should call around 2:00 pm next week to make sure the part is in before I drive over.

So next week at 2:00 pm I call and ask is the part in to fix my car. I don't know say the mechanic on the phone. He yells for the information and comes back to me and say call back in 1 hour UPS has not delivered here yet. I call back at 3:00 pm no answer. So I drive there and guess what he out of business.

I call corpate and they will honor my warranty and take care of everything.WRONG! I take care to a different store now they keep it for a week and it still leaks. I go back again I think this is my 52th trip back to Aamco center. They need to order a part to fix it. OK I take it back next week and nobody knows what going on because the guy I talked to is off that day and could I back next week.

I go back next week and he there and puts the new part on, but oh yeah but if it still leaks we need to replace the axle now and that will be HOW MUCH, ARE YOU @#@#$ KIDDING!

Well $3,000, 52 trips red parts, greens parts, and 15 months later my transmission is still leaking. Oh and there corporate office will only scheduled the warranty work. Sorry that's a external part. The 1st 52 trips and the rebuild won't take care of that. I guess it take 53 trips and $3500 to fix a leaking transmission.

That really sucks....and that is one of the worst stories I have read...every trans shops have cars that are difficult or misdiagnosed...but the owner swap makes it worse....new owners never want to fix things for free....but had they done their job right then you would referring friends...I don't blame your anger and they didn't deserve you business. They will lose more money treating customers so poorly then they can save by avoiding repairs.

My transmission quit on me and i first checked the obvious...fluid,shift linkage etc. I realized the problem was internal so i called aamco and they sent a tow truck to have my car towed to their shop. The guy in charge as overly friendly and braggd about ho easy it was going to be to fix this problem because he teaches people how to remove transmissions from Saabs...i have a Saab 9000.Told me he will work with me whatever that means i have no idea.Next day i called him and he said he has to pull the engine and take apart the transmission to find out the problem.I asked how much it will cost and his whole attitude changed from being overly friendly to sarcastic. He said how is he supposed to know how much it will cost until he takes everything apart. At that point i told him point blank to leave my car alone because i will not let him hold my car hostage. He then told me that i owed him $125 for towing the car 3 miles.I decided to give him the $125 just to get rid of him.I've decided to change the transmission myself.Screw aamco.

Lynette H Icp

They ripe people off. They don't fix the problem, they adjust it so you have to go back and spend more money or you're basicly screwed! :(

AAMCO really does suck huh? ..... Just so very happy to be Canadian.I would take this Corporate Co to small claims court and make them 100% responsible for the terrible BS you've been forced to endure. If a company did that up here in Canada, they would be sued to the hilt.

Guest

I can so relate to this...I heard the same thing with my car. The "axle is causing the leak" and too much fluid must be AAMCO's standard answer.

I caution everyone to not take their car to AAMCO unless you want to be thousands short in your savings and your car still not be repaired properly. Ask around to friends, family, and co-workers for a more reliable shop.

Amcco transmissions is the worst service provider company and they conduct dishonest business.

when I brought my truck with just a braket support broken they let me go home and supposely they scaned my transmission founding too many codes that could demage my trainy. after they gave one price at the end I finished paying like if I were buying a new transmission. well after the owner said that they changed too many parts of the transmission, parts that I never saw, I finished with a big oil leaking in the garage of my car. so just be careful with this kind of unetical busines this guys are doing in severals states. be away from them!

Did not fix my truck when stated.

On July 11, 2011, I took my truck to Aamco transmission in Baker, La and they guaranteed me my truck would be fixed. As of July 21, 2011, my truck is still in the shop waiting to be fixed. They never called me to give me an update. Nobody looked at my truck because the guy was on vacation I went back to the shop after my truck was still sitting in the same spot, asked for owner he never came out of the office, he told the manager to take care of it. The manager assured me the problem would be fixed.

Ripped me off!

I brought my car to Aamco in Orange Park, Fl to have my air conditioning fixed. No cold air on drivers side was my complaint. After a few hours I was told there were no leaks and I was not low on refrigerant and all parts were working properly so it had to be my AC controller. Part $620 and less than $100 in labor. Scam! When I got my car back, no change so I brought it back to them. After a day they said they forgot to reflash the computer. I now had cold AC for 3 days and right back to nothing so I brought it back again. This time I now have a leak? $180 more and they will recharge it with a stop leak. Might last a year-might not. No thanks. I payed $800 and still have the same problem I started with. Dont use Aamco!

Ammco in Des Moines

I took a 4l60e tranny to ammco in des moines on 14th street to have it rebuilt. They rebuilt it gave it back and it ran for 2000 mile(3 months) then it went out again. they tore it apart and found that the planetary bearing flew apart so instead of pulling it out and fixing it for free under warranty they charged me 150 to remove and reinstall the tranny. so i got it back after they put the tranny in (rebuilt for the 2 time). i went 600 miles or less than 1 month and 3rd gear went out completely. i took it back and they said it sounds mechanical and that they had to tare it apart. i am frustrated because i have been with out my truck this long and how can i trust them that they will do it right. what i found out from the front desk guy is basically they don't rebuild them they refurbish them. they only replace the parts that are not to factory spec. i have had many transmissions rebuilt by other companies and they told me they put all new parts in when they REBUILD a tranny. so i really dont trust these guys right now.

eh, i worked at that AAMCO many years ago, all AAMCO's are a trap, i quit, and a while later it burned down, crooked, i should say a considerably more crooked than usual owner burned it down for the insurance. Reality is, they will squeeze you for every dime they can get, its the AAMCO way.

Also anwicurn is right, your spelling is atrocious, but i suspect you posted this when you were highly pissed and you anger made your fingers do bad things. If you ultimately got your car fixed, thats more than most can say, so feel lucky there.
