car transmission shop service problem money customer warranty vehicle truck

AAmco ripped me off then lost my documents

Don't go to Aamco at all. I went and they had me put 1,000.00 down just to start repairs and ended up paying 2449.00 with tax total and had to wait over 13 days before I could pick up the car. By then the State inspection had run out. After signing all their Liability disclaiming paper work; I went out to the car and found that my Insurance card-Which I needed for State re-inspection was not on the front seat with the registration!!! Of course I went back inside and asked????!!!! Now I was pissed! All this I tried not to show visibly. The manager's response was one of Oh well call your insurance company and have them mail you another one. Now I was angry. The result was that I made it to State inspection only to be told that the repair had wiped my computer otc codes clean and I now failed inspection for this and for documents!!! Don't ever go to Aamco. Let a vocational High School Student fix your problem 1st. Oh and by the way- My Transmission which never leaked left a spot in my Driveway. I wonder if it was it or KY jelly????- Laugh till it hurts if you Go their!!!- Water washing the bridge away!!!!- L.B. hosed in Delran New Jersey.

Customer Service Not a Priority for Aamco

I took my truck to be computer analyzed on a Wednesday to the Reading, PA location. They said they would call when it was done. They didn't. After an entire day and still nothing. So I went there. They said they didn't have the part. If I could leave the car, they would call when it was done the next day. Thursday they said the part went to the wrong location and a gasket was missing so they hadn't gotten to it yet but if I could leave it they would have in done Friday. It would take about an hour. I made an appointment for the next day and brought it back at 11:00. I called at 2:00 and it still wasn't done. At 4:00 the women was downright rude and said it will be done when it is done but for sure by 5:00. Then she called back and said it won't be done until 6:00. I went there at 6:00 and they had just pulled it in. I waited there until 7:00 to get it back. I have never dealt with anyone more unprofessional and rude. I am sure my truck would have still been there on Saturday if I had not waited there. I would not reccomend their service to anyone.

They had to rebuild my trans twice in 2010-I've had at least 10 rebuilds over the last 10yrs and since I bought the lifetime warranty they have to fix it(but when I first dealt with Aamco it was in Lancaster PA and the owner was great-but he sold out and those guys wrecked my car one time so now I end up dealing with the Reading store)

Well the first time in 2010 they tried to say I had over 2k of work that needed fixed-so I played along since I know nothing was wrong. I towed it to my mechanic and he found not a dam thing wrong on there list.

I am a women but I know my car-I am not a fool that shops make me out to be. And each time I go in for my yearly checks I gringe because I can feel the ripoff. REALLY miss the owner at the Lancaster location and wishes he never sold out.

They had terrible service. I was dealing with a rep name dan. He told me several lies. 1. That my I needed to pay $20 for gas. When I picked up my car is was still empty. 2. I needed a battery. I had the same battery in my car when I picked it up. Paid $99 for and...

Aamco used me to ripped off my friend

A very close single female friend of mine lost her transmission, not knowing where to go or you to call, I told her I would research it to find the best place to take her car. I called 5 local transmission shops and asked for worst case price quotes, which means If her trans is totally ruined and we have to completely replace it, Aamco offer me the best service, with the best price and the best warrantee. I told my friend that sounded like the best place. She took the car there and they replaced the trans, because she was a woman and she didn't mention my conversation with them, they charged her a $1000 dollars more than they told me, but did the same work that we disscussed, they also gave her a smaller warrantee then they told me, and all this represents the customer service they provide

Lack of Customer Service | Aamco review from Atlanta, Georgia

The AAMCO Transmission shop in Alexandria, LA lacks good customer service. I don't know how their work is, but if it is anything like the customer service, I have recommended that my car dealership, which is footing the bill for fixing or replacing my transmission, take the vehicle somewhere else. For two weeks, AAMCO personnel have been telling me that they will get to the transmission in my 2001 Chrysler Town and Country van before the end of the week. Every time I have gone by the shop, they have not only not even moved my van, but also send a different person out of the office to tell me they will get on my van by the Thursday or Friday of each week. On the following Monday, I have gone by to see why they haven't even moved the van. They keep telling me they are backed up or somebody called in sick and they are short of help. I went back to my car dealer to let them know how poor the service and speed of getting my transmission looked at was going. On Monday, March 29th, the dealer sales person, who sold me the van is going to call them to find out why they haven't even moved the van. If they haven't made any attempt by the time the dealer calls on Monday, the dealer is having the van towed to somewhere else. One other thing that bothers me about this particular AAMCO shop. They have the AAMCO sign on the side of the building, which has holes in some of the building siding. I wonder if they care how their building and reputation looks.

Screwed me over 1,300 | Aamco review from Saint Paul, Minnesota

Aamco 1571 S. Robert St. W. St. Paul, MN 55118 is only good for screwing you over and wasting your time. I paid 1,300 for a rebuilt transfer case. Instead I got a piece of *** transfer case, that is bad now the third time in year and a half! really? I brought my 95 jeep grand cherokee in 3 times under warranty this last time, they would not fix it, kept pushing me away, and kept giving me excuses as to why my transfer case was not bad, but really it was. I also got a second opinion saying the transfer case is bad. I bring it in, it sat for two weeks, they told me they are not going to fix it cause now after all this time it is not in warranty. I never had such bad service in my life!

Aamco 1571 S. Robert St.

W. St. Paul, MN 55118 is only good for screwing you over and wasting your time. I paid 1,300 for a rebuilt transfer case because of a bad bearing noise.

Instead I got a piece of $!&! transfer case with a bad viscous coupling. I go back, and that store is closed.... really?

Well they re open right after my 3 month waranty ran out. Mind you this is with in a week. I go in talk to the guy, he says I'am sorry! We cant do anything for you, your warranty is up.

I ask him how is that my fault your store was closed and you made my car worse then when I brought it in! He can tell I'am very angry, He tells me, its not his fault, the last owner just took every ones money and took off, the only thing I can do is give you a deal charge 800.00 more dollars and I will give you a year warranty this time. I do it trusting it was not his fault, and he would make it right feeling like I dont have any other options. I now have 2,100 into this transfer case.

It lasts me about 5 months, and it goes bad once agian! same deal most expensive part of the transfer case, the Viscous Coupling, they make it real difficult on me with looking at it, horrible service. I herd a mechanic swearing and saying tell him to get out of here with that peice of $*&! They finley fix it, Get this!

I make it till about 9 or ten months and the transfer case goes bad AGAIN! Its now bad now the third time in a year and a half with just them really? Theres nothing wrong with the truck, And I did nothing to make it possible to brake the transfer case, and take great care of this car. I only had it four monts befor I brought it to them.

I brought my 95 jeep grand cherokee in 3 times under warranty for a bad transfer case. This last time, they would not fix it, kept pushing me away, and kept giving me excuses as to why my transfer case was not bad, I needed an alignment and thats why my front tires were clunking when parking. $80.00 later on that alignment strangly enough my truck still has the same problem! but they insist its not the tansfer case, but really it was.

I got a second opinion saying the transfer case is bad. I bring it in to them , it sat for two weeks under warrenty till out of warranty never moving from where I parked it. Then they tell me they are not going to fix it cause now after all this time it is not in warranty and theres nothing they can do for me.

I never had such bad service in my life! I cant belive thats its ok for this to happien, and theres nothing I can do about it besides tell you my storie.

AAMCO does not stand behind warranty!

AAMCO in the Mission Bend subdivision of Houston, Texas, does not stand by its warranty! It prefers instead to milk customers then give them shoddy work! It is a wonder to me that I overcame my skepticism of the company's reputation and threw caution to the wind. And I regret that I did! After I paid $2K to have a rebuilt transmission installed in my vehicle (and part of that being extra for a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty) the vehicle has been in the shop to repair the repair 3 times - the latest being a sensor which malfunctioned. However, AAMCO will not honor its warranty, stating that the sensor is not part of the transmission! These people are unbelievable! If you want to throw good money after bad, go to AAMCO. Just remember to bring the grease,'cause it'll be a painful screwin' otherwise!

I called AAMCO in Lake Worth, FL on 3/19/14 to have them tow my car to check to see why my car wasn’t changing gears. On 3/20/14 Alex called me back and said that I need a new transmission and it would cost me $1500.

He said the job would be complete tuesday 3/24/14. I gave him a verbal permission to start working on my car. Alex told me that since it was a big job, he would need a deposit of $600. On saturday morning i brought him the deposit and he reassured me again that my car would be complete on tuesday.

On tuesday afternoon, I called Alex to make sure my car was done and he said no and that they were waiting on one part. He assured me that my car would be complete Wednesday afternoon. I called again Wednesday and he said that my transmission was rebuilt and all they had to do was a test drive and that he would give me a call. Since i didn’t hear from him thursday morning, i had my boyfriend call him.

He said that he got a speed sensor error code and that he ordered the part and he would have my car on friday. Alex called me friday morning and said that my car is ready to be picked up. When the tow truck picked up my car, the only issue it had was the transmission. When i went to pick up my car, my motor making noise as if a hammer is hitting it, my car turns off when i put in park and Alex refuses to listen to me that they just made a bigger problem on my car.

I refused to pay for a car that’s in worse shape then when i brought it in. I called Alex this morning 3/31/14 to ask for corporate’s number, Alex told me “if I contact corporate then the owners will delay fixing my vehicle”.

I asked him for the owner’s name and he refused to give me that information. We are on day number 12 and I still DON’T have my car.

$3,200 @ AAMCO & a yr later another $3,200

A year and 2 months ago I had my transmission rebuilt for a 2000 Acura TL by an AAMCO dealer ("the experts"). Now my car is at another AAMCO dealer (thinking they would warranty their work) close to where it broke down & I have been informed that the transmission is shot due to the fluid level being 4 quarts low & my warranty has expired so nothing is covered. It was explained to me that I could have purchased a longer warranty, but failed to do so. I was also informed that this "$3,200" rebuild will come with a 3 year warranty. What? why couldn't the last one come with that warranty? The only reason I stopped the car was to get a soda & noticed an odor & then smoke coming from my drivers side tire. A warning light never came on (in a car full of warning lights). I am now on day 4 waiting to hear what this rebuild will actually cost me. Bottom line....DO NOT GO TO AAMCO - they obviously do not know what hey are doing if a $3,200 rebuilt transmission just lasts a bit over a yr.

I had a Lexus transmission rebuilt by Aamco. Exactly 2 years later it was slipping and they said it needed to be rebuilt again. I only had the 1 year warranty. We were going to sell the car in a few months so we added 1/2 can Dot 3 Brake fluid into the transmission and it stopped slipping completely. There is not much info on the internet about doing this. My neighbor told me he did it for his old work van and had been slip free for months. The only reason I dared do this is because we were going to sell it in a few months and it had 210,000 miles on it. (It was sold for parts.)

It seems like a scam that their transmissions don't last. From what I've read and heard it is quite common. How do they rebuild it to fail so soon after warranty expires!LOL

The only reason I used them to begin with is because I was 500 miles away from home when it happened and wanted a warranty I could use when I got home if there was a problem.

Stay away!!!

That is too bad, as I received great service from them. My 1998 Chevy truck runs better now then when it came from the factory - the transmission was rebuilt in two days and the price was cheaper than the dealership.

The only downfall was that their warranty was less than the dealer by one year and 80,000 miles. I was treated well.
