AAMCO Trashed Tranny
I dropped off a working 74' VW Beetle 4-speed transmission (to check synchros-condition on a Karmann Ghia I'm restoring & converting to electric) at AAMCO in Salem,VA June 20 2011 since they said they have egg-spurts that work on manuals and said it would be $200 to check out. They got confused and sent it to AAMCO in Blacksburg, VA saying their "real" egg-spurt was there. A week later I got a call from them saying they couldn't find parts (would be at least $1200) for a Bug tranny so upon their request I overnighted parts from an online supplier in California for $438. On July 8th I picked up the (was working) transmission in a box full of gears & parts! They said they couldn't figure out *how* to put it back together! They obviously didn't have the VW proper alignment tools and were incompitent. I don't know how they stay in business, just unsuspecting folk's that walk in I guess.
I was a prior owner this co is the biggest rip off ever. they give no help to the customers and all the main office cares about is the money. ths ad pools are even a bigger rip off. All lies even the so called experience the shops have is a lie. I would never recommend any of the shops . They all work on comission , so that must tell you something. The sales manager at the desk is the biggest of the liers, and the rest to follow. the main office has been bought out by another co, so now the heat is on to generate more income. There are centers closing all over.
AAMCO in Hattiesburg, MS
Do not take your vehicle to AAMCO in Hatiesburg MS. I dropped my car off on Monday night to be looked at the next day becuase my check engine light was on. They didnt look at it until wednsday and than asked us if we knew what could be wrong with it. They than parked it in the back of about 15 other cars and never called us or told us anything. I finally went and picked it up on thursday night and it was still never looked at again and I was told I need to take it somewhere else.
They had terrible service. I was dealing with a rep name dan. He told me several lies. 1. That my I needed to pay $20 for gas. When I picked up my car is was still empty. 2. I needed a battery. I had the same battery in my car when I picked it up. Paid $99 for and...
Lack of Customer Service | Aamco review from Atlanta, Georgia
The AAMCO Transmission shop in Alexandria, LA lacks good customer service. I don't know how their work is, but if it is anything like the customer service, I have recommended that my car dealership, which is footing the bill for fixing or replacing my transmission, take the vehicle somewhere else. For two weeks, AAMCO personnel have been telling me that they will get to the transmission in my 2001 Chrysler Town and Country van before the end of the week. Every time I have gone by the shop, they have not only not even moved my van, but also send a different person out of the office to tell me they will get on my van by the Thursday or Friday of each week. On the following Monday, I have gone by to see why they haven't even moved the van. They keep telling me they are backed up or somebody called in sick and they are short of help. I went back to my car dealer to let them know how poor the service and speed of getting my transmission looked at was going. On Monday, March 29th, the dealer sales person, who sold me the van is going to call them to find out why they haven't even moved the van. If they haven't made any attempt by the time the dealer calls on Monday, the dealer is having the van towed to somewhere else. One other thing that bothers me about this particular AAMCO shop. They have the AAMCO sign on the side of the building, which has holes in some of the building siding. I wonder if they care how their building and reputation looks.
Very Angry | Aamco review from Douglasville, Georgia
I took my Pontiac Montana in to Aamaco for a transmission rebuild which never took place, because when I received my car back it still was doing the same thing, making a loud noise that they say they never heard and jerking they say they never felt even though they say they test drove it many times after taking the car in four times I asked to go on a test drive just to point out the problem to the mechanic this time he heard the problem, But they refused to fix my car. Fariburn Rd. Douglasville, GA. Mad as Heck!
AAMCO means Ripoff
My car broke down in front of this AAMCO in East Point, GA and so I had them repair it. They quoted $600 but told me the master and slave cylinders of my car needed repair. After opening the transmission, they then said the clutch needed repair. Total $1300. I saved this up and found went to pickup the vehicle - they said they had test driven it twice and it was working fine. Got in the car and the car was in the same condition as before not shifting into any gears and getting stuck. I found this amazing. I rode with one of their techs driving and he agreed that there is no-way anyone could have test driven this car and not found this problem. New diagnosis (600 more dollars for labor and then whatever the part will cost). Im not sure if I should stick with them. I KNOW Im being ripped off. For this money I could have bought another used car and the price has tripled from the initial quote.
