AAMCO---"booked up thru next year"

I recently called the Annapolis location on 906 West St., Annapolis, MD. 21401. I think I spoke with RODNEY. I asked for an appointment to get an oil change and a tire rotation. I was told HE was just swamped that day with oil changes so HE had no openings through the end of this week, so I asked about getting an appointment for next week ---sorry booked all of next week; what about next month---booked through the end of the MONTH , actually, booked through the end of the YEAR. I have a REALLY tough time believing that ANY shop with ANY company doing auto work is EVER booked up completely four and a half months ahead of time--especially for an oil change!!!!!!! You can be sure that I will NEVER be having your company (even if another is close by) to do my oil changes and any other work that I will need in the future. I would not go back to AAMCO even if there was something you could do because I'd be worried about some "unrequested" work being done on my vehicle (that would later cause my vehicle major problems) because I reported this. I KNOW I WON'T GO TO AAMCO---even though your slogan says otherwise!!!!!!

To date the Rockville AAMCO has failed to respond. Part of their franchise agreement must be to not acknowledge customer complaints. Their time would be better spent learning how to fix cars.

$3,200 @ AAMCO & a yr later another $3,200

A year and 2 months ago I had my transmission rebuilt for a 2000 Acura TL by an AAMCO dealer ("the experts"). Now my car is at another AAMCO dealer (thinking they would warranty their work) close to where it broke down & I have been informed that the transmission is shot due to the fluid level being 4 quarts low & my warranty has expired so nothing is covered. It was explained to me that I could have purchased a longer warranty, but failed to do so. I was also informed that this "$3,200" rebuild will come with a 3 year warranty. What? why couldn't the last one come with that warranty? The only reason I stopped the car was to get a soda & noticed an odor & then smoke coming from my drivers side tire. A warning light never came on (in a car full of warning lights). I am now on day 4 waiting to hear what this rebuild will actually cost me. Bottom line....DO NOT GO TO AAMCO - they obviously do not know what hey are doing if a $3,200 rebuilt transmission just lasts a bit over a yr.

I had a Lexus transmission rebuilt by Aamco. Exactly 2 years later it was slipping and they said it needed to be rebuilt again. I only had the 1 year warranty. We were going to sell the car in a few months so we added 1/2 can Dot 3 Brake fluid into the transmission and it stopped slipping completely. There is not much info on the internet about doing this. My neighbor told me he did it for his old work van and had been slip free for months. The only reason I dared do this is because we were going to sell it in a few months and it had 210,000 miles on it. (It was sold for parts.)

It seems like a scam that their transmissions don't last. From what I've read and heard it is quite common. How do they rebuild it to fail so soon after warranty expires!LOL

The only reason I used them to begin with is because I was 500 miles away from home when it happened and wanted a warranty I could use when I got home if there was a problem.

Stay away!!!
