What a horrible company | Aamco review from Pompton Lakes, New Jersey
im going to keep this short but feel it's necessary to give a heads up to you guys out there who are even thinking of taking your car to aamco. there was a problem with my transmission (car jerking, shaking, erratic shifting etc.). aamco told me my transmission would have to be replaced and i would be charged $4000. I figured if i were to pay that much money, i might as well go straight to the dealership and be sure the job is done right, with the right parts. long story short...they replaced it for $1000.00. $3000.00 less than AAMCO, coming straight from Toyota!!! ***!! The best part was, i was still covered under my warranty and didnt even know it!
Attempted rip-off - AAMCO in Rochester, NY
A while back I took my car to AAMCO transmission on Mt. Read Blvd in Rochester, NY, because the car made a clunking noise when I put the transmission in gear. The service writer checked out the car and then told me that the problem was with the transmission and it would cost over $300 to fix it. I asked him if he was sure that was the problem and he told me that's what it was. So I asked him for a written estimate for the repairs, but he only wrote down a total price with no detail of what had to be done or what parts would have to be replaced. That made me suspicious so then I took the car to Milt & Ron's Transmission shop, a local independent repair shop. They checked it out and told me the rear U-joint had to be replaced. Total cost (parts and labor) was under $100. So I had them do the work and no more clunking noise. I told them about the guy at AAMCO and what he had said to me, and they almost died laughing. Stay away from AAMCO!
We paid $2500 for a transmission rebuild at the Shawnee Mission, KS AAMCO that lasted less than 500 miles. The second AAMCO shop said that it was the exact same reason for repair that we'd paid $2500 for in Kansas. The emergency roadside assistance we were given...
They need to go to school to learn. | Aamco review from Avenel, New Jersey
Cottman or AAMCO. They really need to go to school and get some training about transmissions and how not to break other parts of the vehicle being fixed. OR not leave coffee, rags, etc. in the vehicle. this should be basic but, sigh, apparently not. ADVICE: Don't go! Don't do it! smiths gas station on the corner could do the exact job. You have been warned. Cottman fixed trans, Ford explorer. It leaked. OOPS a line was loose. Fixed it. NOPE still leaked. They just didn't want to take the trans out again to properly fix the seal. O.K. 11 months later trans. completely breaks. AAmco fixes it, but bends front tie end rod!!!!????? How the *** you do this? O but they never saw it! Yeah i always drive with my steering wheel making a right turn but goes straight. Go to the dealer stop supporting this.
