AAMCO in Turnersville, no clue

Took my truck there for a transmission leak. Usually do all my own work but had no time. I didn't have a recommendation, so gave them a shot. Got the truck back for the quoted cost, but service was sloppy and it was hard to tell if the leak had even stopped. Two days later that was answered. Leaking worse. They took it back and fixed again, and said it was a bad gasket. No charge. Well, no fix either. Still leaking. Took it back again today. This time of course it was something different. The transmission needed to be pulled out ($650) and THEN an I'd get an estimate. He did offer to apply the old bill to the new repair, but I have no confidence in their shop at this point. Beware. Read reviews before you go!

My son who is in the Army took his car to aamco for trans repair. They said it would cost 1700.00 to rebuild it.

It is in a 1992 Toyota camry.he said ok. They said 4days to do it. Guess what it has been a month and half and it still isn't done yet.

This is the shop in Killeen Texas. Time for a lawyer.

Aamco Held My Car for 15 days+ for 3 day job

AAmco is the absolute worst place to go for your car on the face of this planet! I had to have my transmission rebuilt and they took my car in and said the work would take 3 days. Here i stand on day 15 and my car is still in their possession. I have no confidence in the work they did and they are completely and utterly incompetent! First they said the work was complete after 5 days (2 days late) and said it finally just needed a test drive to ensure everything was done. once they did that, they said it wasn't shifting correctly. Something was cut that shouldn't have been. Another 5 days. Day 10- test drive and they say something is leeking! he figures out that the car is leaking transmission fluid. He guesses that it's a certain thing causing the leak and replaces it. Turns out, it was something else. Now they are attempting to purchase the actual piece that is causing the leak and for a well known company, it sure takes them a long time to obtain a piece from a store that's down the street! So here i stand on day 15 with no car! DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!

Sounds like a standard form letter, even a rookie should be able to tell whether a U-Joint is bad or not. Standing by an erroneous diagnosis, that is proven incorrect by a (presumably) more qualified technician is just more bloviating, i have years in transmission shops, and as my name implies i am ASE master certified, with A9 L1 and L2 certifications.

loose torque converter bolts would be noticeable with the vehicle in park. U Joints would only be noticeable when in gear and drive shaft moving. you need new QUALIFIED techs, as the 2 diagnosis take completely different test sets.

Having worked for many AAMCO shops i am quite familiar with the checklist front and back. and the reality is most dont bother following it, mainly because an EDS takes an hour (done properly) and its all about banging the customr for as much as possible, as quickly as you can herd them in.

As the owner of the AAMCO Car Care in Pt Pleasant, NJ I am disappointed in your dissatisfaction over our recommendation, specifically the cause of a noise/vibration. These symptoms many times can be difficult to pinpoint especially when the vehicle has had major modifications for non-standard heavy duty off road use as is the case for this vehicle.

Furthermore the fact that the noise you refer to was intermittent made the diagnostic even more complicated. None the less, our Multi-Point Inspection confirmed multiple noises and vibrations including an obviously bad rear universal joint. A badly worn universal joint can cause a dangerous driving condition. Therefore we recommended this issue be resolved before any other work is performed.

Since your response was that you would perform that repair yourself, we released the vehicle with NO charges due or paid.

I am pleased to hear that whatever steps you 've taken seem to have solved all or part of the problem, however we stand by our original diagnosis. I'd look forward to discussing the matter directly at your convenience.

AAMCO - Transmission inoperable after less than 2 years!

In September of 2009 I had my transmission rebuilt in my Highlander for $4,654.51 at the AAMCO Flemington, NJ location. The owner/operator promised me my car and fell through on the delivery date. As I drove out of the shop, it was not operating correctly so I had to return the vehicle. They supposedly corrected the issue, however, the car never ran correctly and the service was so terrible I did not want to return. Now, less than 2 years later the transmission is doing the same thing and my car is not drivable. When I looked at my paperwork, I noticed there was an extended warranty I was not offered nor did I initial to decline. I am now taking it to another mechanic who I know and trust and who will install a new transmission with a 100,000 mile warranty. I am so dissatisfied I will tell everyone about my negative experience with AAMCO.

Very Disappointed in this place and I feel bad writing this, but I must warn other patrons . This AAMCO came highly recommended by my friends, but sadly all of them are now taking their business elsewhere after my unfortunate experience.

AAMOC in Matawan  replaced a part in my car that was recently replaced by another AAMCO.  When it was brought to their attention, they did absolutely NOTHING to try to rectify it stating it may have been defective??   They had the chance to honor a warranty and they choose not to do it.

At this point I believe they may be running some kind of a scam.   Beware of this place.

AAMCO in Butler NJ the worst!!!!!!!

If your car breaks down in front of this place during a blizzard, push it somewhere else. These guys are total liars and will lie to you with a straight face and make you believe that they did you a favor in taking your money. They will say that they replaced parts, and when you look at the "new" part they replace it is still covered in the same old grease. They don't even bother cleaning up the old parts. This shows how *** they think we the consumer are. Stay Away!!!! Don't believe a word they say.

Aamco has no respect for customers

My 1999 Neon was driving forward but not in reverse. Went to Aamco in Metuchen,NJ. They road tested the car and told me they needed to remove the trans. to diagnose the problem. Cost $295. I stated that I did not want to spend too much money. They led me to believe it could be repaired at little cost. They called and said I needed a new trans. Cost $900-$1500. They did not tell me exactly what was wrong, just that I needed a new one. I decided not to replace the trans. I was told "by the way" it may not run when they put it back in? It was like an egg, once you crack it you cannot put it back. I could not believe what I was being told. It took them 5 days to put back my transmission. I was told it was drivable. After I drove 2 blocks the car was making a loud grinding sound. The car was sluggish but I made it home. I checked the trans dipstick it was dry. No signs of a leak under the car. I called back Aamco and was told that my trans was probably leaking. They are not responsible. I only wish I found this website before going to Aamco.

This is a follow up on my complaint.

On Saturday 6/26/2010 I received a call from Mike at Aamco about my complaint letter. He apologized for the situation that arose with my transmission service. He said that his shop would never intentionally do anything unfavorable with service or customers. He said that at the time I called to complain about no transmission fluid, he was away. He was not properly notified of the issue.

I explained my frustration with how I was being treated. I feel that I was not given enough information to make an important decision to remove the transmission for further testing. The lack of response to my complaint also added to my frustration.

Mike told me that he did not want an unhappy customer. In the spirit of customer service he would refund the full amount I paid for the diagnostic test. I feel that this is a amicable solution for this situation.

Although the situation was unfortunate, I am satisfied with the outcome.

AAmco ripped me off then lost my documents

Don't go to Aamco at all. I went and they had me put 1,000.00 down just to start repairs and ended up paying 2449.00 with tax total and had to wait over 13 days before I could pick up the car. By then the State inspection had run out. After signing all their Liability disclaiming paper work; I went out to the car and found that my Insurance card-Which I needed for State re-inspection was not on the front seat with the registration!!! Of course I went back inside and asked????!!!! Now I was pissed! All this I tried not to show visibly. The manager's response was one of Oh well call your insurance company and have them mail you another one. Now I was angry. The result was that I made it to State inspection only to be told that the repair had wiped my computer otc codes clean and I now failed inspection for this and for documents!!! Don't ever go to Aamco. Let a vocational High School Student fix your problem 1st. Oh and by the way- My Transmission which never leaked left a spot in my Driveway. I wonder if it was it or KY jelly????- Laugh till it hurts if you Go their!!!- Water washing the bridge away!!!!- L.B. hosed in Delran New Jersey.
