Verified Reviewer |Resolved: Scammed out my vehicle
My cars transmission went out so I went online trying to find a shop . I was born and raised in Irving but I recently moved to euless . With me not being comfortable with the mechanics in my new area I decided to use yelp and ask friends and family do they know a good trust worthy family shop that doesnt cost you to do no work and want a arm and leg for pricing .
With that being said I went ahead and call AAMCO transmission . When speaking to Tommy he told me Saturday he would sent a tow truck Saturday came around I spoke to the tow guy at 9am Jan 10th ,but online said they were closed but they told me they were open and could tow . After waiting until 3 pm no one shows up so I found a ride to work and said Ill handle it . Monday I called and asked what happened they told me tow got backed up they would be there Monday Jan 13 which they did come around 11-12 .
Tommy told me tow was $100 and transmission diagnostics was 300$ I told him great lets do that . (The tow fee would be waved if I got a service done )
On Monday at 1:36 he called and told me the transmission was no good it had big medal prices everywhere and if the pieces were small they could fix it but it was tore up so bad it will have to be replaced. He told me he did 9 hours of labor and his workers get payed 165$ hour and that his labor fee is 1500 . But he called me within 2 hours so how was that 9 hours of labor . What labor did you do ? I told him thats not what you quoted me . He told me labor could start at 1,000 then pieces can be any where from 500-**** depending on the company because around this time they change their prices . And that he couldnt give me an exact price just yet .
After telling him I live paycheck to paycheck what were the payment options he told me I could look into finance companies when I did he told me that the whole new total was 4500 and he wanted 4700 if I go through finance .
After speaking with him and telling him thats not right , we had no agreement , no work was done I was never quoted my full price or signed any agreement .
It has been two weeks and they have held my car hostage . He told me he would work with me so I asked what did he mean he said *** give my car back for 1500 I said lets work a deal he said okay 1000 I said Ill give you $400 like we agreed which was tow and a diagnostics . And the tow was waved since I told him I would get work done with him which was the diagnostics to make sure it was my transmission .
After getting a man involved ,my dad ,tommy was calmer and willing to negotiations on paying something for no actual work done he told me he would give me 500 for my car because his mechanics wife needs a car to drive and it would be a even trade I said so your telling me all this because you want to keep my car . You wont accept $400 for the work you did but you want me to accept $500 for my car .
Ive been car less and paying paycheck to paycheck to find rides everyday Ive never been without a vehicle for work and Ive never been scammed out of my car . Without a quote and trying to negotiate but not negotiate im super stressed . Today makes three weeks and Tommy told me he was moving my car to a garage for $30 a day .

I reached out to aamco to get my engine replaced. I explained to the service person that I needed an engine replaced.
He explained that we will tow it in and if you get the work done the tow would be subtracrted from the repair. So I declined the service and now he is trying to charge me $69.01 for a diagnostic test that was not communicated in the initial conversation.
Being scammed by aamco mechanic
They’re scammers and thieves
They wont tell me whats actually wrong with vehicle. They lied about the price of the service then when i said i want my car back they refused and are still refusing to return my vehicle claiming i owe all these fees to return parts that they werent authorized to order. Its been 2 weeks theyve had my car and i just want it back to get someone qualified to repair it.

Verified Reviewer |Car service not correctly done, my car was short-changed the total amount of fluid billed on the invoice
Within 3 months and 2 days of performing a transmission service on my car, my car got stuck with no transmission fluid in the vehicle. Every expert I spoke with told me, with no evidence of a leak, the only explanation is that the car did not receive the 5 quarts of fluid it required.
The franchise office wants to blame everyone else, except themselves, for not doing the job correctly.
I ended up having no confidence in their experts and went somewhere else to get the job done correctly. I requested a refund of the transmission fluids only and was told no, with many excuses.

Paid 4200 for a rebuild on my trans. Torque converter is going bad within 500 miles.
Took it back for it's 500 mile check up and they were blaming the issue on a misfire. Took it to a 2nd shop they stated I need an overhaul to replace my torque converter. With the repair at Aamco Ypsilanti I dropped my truck off with a pick up date given. That date came and passed, it was 21 days before I got my truck back.
When I called to speak to them they basically laughed me off. I will pay the other shop for the repair but I will see you in court.
I have dealt with companies like this before and I have won every time. I document everything.

After conning my 84 year old mother into purchasing a transmission the individuals also made her feel her 2018 focus needed shocks and brakes as well. The workmanship at the sore located in Chicago Heights was horrible and could have resulted in the death of my mom, the axel and toreros piece came off while driving

Complaint
They've had my car going on three months now and keeps giving me excuses as to why they haven't fixed it. The excuses are transmission wasn't on the truck, at least three times for that one.
Three times the transmission they got was defective. Once it was because one of the mechanics mother died.
And the one this morning was the transmission didn't come in again. I feel that they need to fix it and not charge me a dime for the transmission or the cost of them fixing it.
User's recommendation: I would recommend that nobody go to the one that my car is at

Verified Reviewer |Had to take jeep in 4 times for a rebuild and still not right. Old parts, wrong parts.
I am totally DONE with AMMCO!! Had a very long frustating experience with this shop with my transmission in a 1998 Jeep.
First visit it was diagnosed needing tranny mounts so I had them replaced. 3 months later I took it in because of a growl, grinding noise. They determined it needed a rebuilt tranny. It took 12 days and cost 3800.
It still had a growl so in it went again and they redid the planetary gears. I would think that should have been done in the rebuild. This took 16 days. It still had a growl but I was told the gears would take some time to wear in.
After 2 months my check engine light showed a tranny issue and still a bad growl so they then said it had shavings and needed a whole new case, the flex plate was warped (which was from them or not checked the first time) so another rebuild. This trip was 11 days in shop. The final straw was after one 40 mile trip there was a ticking noise in the tranny area. It still had the growl in reverse also.
I took it in and they put it on the lift and with a screwdriver bent the crank shaft sensor bracket, it was hitting the flex plate. Still had the ticking noise and growl. I took it to another tranny shop and the parts they pulled out and replaced were chewed up, wrong size spacers, old burnt parts and some that should not have been in there. I called and asked for 2000 that it took to fix and of course was denied.
I would not take my jeep back to these people for any reason warranty or not!!! NOTDO

My vehicle has been sitting at Aamco for8 months. 3 time being there.
They dont have service technicians to rebuild so my van is just sitting. Still paying insurance for a vehicle that is just sitting make this right by Monday or I hiring a attorney to get me compensated for all the money I am out of.
