I work at an aamco and wish to know what transmission you got charged 6k for, and whether it was just transmission or other repairs with it. If it is 6k for just a transmission and not some high dollar exotic transmission it sounds like highway robbery and you may ned to contact corporate.

but, you must remember that each shop is independent from corp and they have the choice of participating in the financing programs or not. You need to ask this question first.
Now, if your app was submitted and declined, you must keep in mind that the financing is provided by a 3rd party financing co and the center has no control over this.
In fact, due to privacy laws, the financing co cannot even tell the AAMCO center why you may have been declined. Unfortunately, due to many factors, not everyone will get approved.

Aamco review in Houston, Texas: Sold "super saver" certificates and refuse to honor
I never heard about AAMCO until I purchased a deal on groupon, it was 40 for 5 oil changes, good deal. When I made my purchase, I think there were at least 3000 ppl who have also bought this. So I went through much trouble contacting them to send me the certificate thing, after finally receiving it in the mail, I called to make an appointment, only to find out they were "no longer accpepting the groupon or whatever thing", this is within two weeks of the purchase. They didnt apologize, only told me to deal with groupon to get my money back. They did offer to give me an oil change for $30 (I can get it for 24 at a toyota dealership), after I told them no thank you, they just hung up. I think they are only using groupon as cheap advertisement and never honored the deal at all, just to get some thousands of people to notice their existance. Thank God I never went! Now I never will.

STAY AWAY FROM AAMCO
I had my transmission rebuild in 2/10. Three months after services, I notice a little fluid on the ground. I brought my car back to Aamco in 5/10, 8/10 & 12/10 same reason and was told maybe too much fluid. 5/2011 I went in again spoke to a Manager, and explained all above. He told me it was a leak from the transmission (axel??) and he would have it fixed under the warranty since this was an on-going problem. 5/21/2011 told me I had to pay at least half for my services!! y

Aamco review in Houston, Texas: They charged for tow even though is was not fixed right the first time.
They towed my car then they charged me after no warning that I would be charged. After I took the car to them 5 times. And the car still doesn't run right. If you don't know how to fix VW don't take our money and pertend like you know what your doing. After money spent and time spent back and forth and after paying for a tow that I believe I should not had paid because I was taking it back to them to fix after so many times done wrong. They tell me to take it to the dealership VW....What loosers never again will I spend my money and time at AAMCO.Be Warned..

AAMCO does not stand behind warranty!
AAMCO in the Mission Bend subdivision of Houston, Texas, does not stand by its warranty! It prefers instead to milk customers then give them shoddy work! It is a wonder to me that I overcame my skepticism of the company's reputation and threw caution to the wind. And I regret that I did! After I paid $2K to have a rebuilt transmission installed in my vehicle (and part of that being extra for a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty) the vehicle has been in the shop to repair the repair 3 times - the latest being a sensor which malfunctioned. However, AAMCO will not honor its warranty, stating that the sensor is not part of the transmission! These people are unbelievable! If you want to throw good money after bad, go to AAMCO. Just remember to bring the grease,'cause it'll be a painful screwin' otherwise!

our shop did something like that, supposed to be for advertising, to get people in the shop, however the ad agency that distributed it abused the adverts, gave them to their employees, friends and family, after 25 free oil changes we never got a single job off of it and cancelled the promo and sued the coupon people, we had the coupon redeemers fill out a "how did you get this coupon" thing and it became clear what was going on.so that is likely part of the problem.
