Ok so I have a car that has some mileage on it but its no worse for the wear. Recently my check engine light came on and the transmission was acting funny so I figured, hey why not take it to the transmission specialists especially when they "check" your check engine...

I am not buying that someone put a whole in his radiator or sabatoged his vehicle. It doesn't make sense and the state uses "set up" cars that makes it too risky to attempt such immorality.

Sounds more like he had more problems on his high mileage vehicle then he knew about. The lights were probably on due to running the vehicle on the hoist. The problem with FREE checks is that the companies can't spend enough quality time and not get paid.

I also doubt that $60.00 would cover the cost to have it properly checked. Why not spend $120.00 and have the dealer tell you what's going on with your car?...you get what you pay for....what do you expect when you pay nothing?

Aamco are *** artists no matter where you go!

Took my car in to Aamco in Miamisburg Ohio after being told my fuel pump may have blown, but if I was lucky it was just a relay. Had Aamco tow the car in and they told me it was BOTH fuel pumps. Being a bit suspicious already, I researched this and found that my model does have two 'pumps' in the fuel system. Cost to replace was $1,500. As I certainly couldnt afford $1,500, I was told about the easy no credit qualifying program. I still decided to get another opinion. In the meantime, they offered to buy my car if I wanted for $2,000 - I declined since I knew the blue book was higher. Took the car to a new mechanic that works on his own; New mechanic told me that the fuel pump was NOT bad - it was in fact the relay - an $11 part!!! Paid $75 total for what almost cost me over $1500 - I feel like they were scamming me to try and get me to sell my car to them for something they could have fixed for $11 - or worse yet, would have charged me $1500 for a fuel pump(s) that they NEVER would have fixed, fixed an $11 part, and just made me THINK they changed the fuel pump!! Swindlers of the highest caliber - will tell everyone I know to never go here for any repairs.

Never use Aamco in Hagersown, md

I took my jeep there to get the AC unit tested/repaired told them also that there was an issue with the car not going into gear properly. Please check. They said it would be fixed that day. Called at end of day said no part came in had to keep it was torn apart that was a friday so they couldn't have it back to me until MONDAY. Monday no call then finally they said they would call me back I had to call them again and they said ac is fixed but it won't go in gear now. I went up there and they said 1000.00 for ac but can't drive it. needs new transmission. They are a transmission place and didn't check everything per their motto? I was taken advantage of I told them that needed checked but no they fixed the ac first and charged me. I should have had the option to have that fixed or the more necessary transmission fixed. Now i am still without a car BUT i have AC. They were rude and took advantage of a woman. I had it towed out of their place after telling them exactly what I thought of them. Do not take your car there they will rip you off. I feel they disabled my jeep's tranmission after fixing my air to make more money off me!

Bad mechanics at Aamco

Do not go to the Aamco on Reservoir Street in Haarisonburg, VA. I brought my car there in Feb 2011 for a sudden lack of power and accelaration. They told me I needed a complete tune up. Even I knew a car that needed a tune up would exhibit signs of that failure over time, not all at once. I asked them to check other things first including the catalytic converter. The mechanic called me back and said nothing else was wrong. They did a complete tune up and charged me over $500 only to call me the day I was supposed to pick up the car and told me they were wrong, it was the converter after all. I asked for all the parts back that they took out for the tune up. They told me they would give them all back to me , and reduce the charges because they knew they did work that wasn't needed. Then a week later charged the full amount to to my credit card. Reported them to BBB

Evolution Motor Works Naples FL. Porches and Audi Shop.

"they do not know anything about car performances" will charge you double and you will get a bad service and poor quality.

Stay away from these people. This comment is in memory of my car.

Another sad and unhappy ex-customer

I took my vehicle in no less than 3 times to two different locations only to find the solution to this problem online - alldata.com. I even faxed this to the last shop.

When I picked up the vehicle the fax was on the front seat and the mechanic - who could not speak english had disconnected the suspected vacuum solenoid in question. When I pointed to the fax in the vehicle he gave me a *** look.

When I took him for a drive in the car with the module disconnected and AGAIN showed him the prolem he gave me an even stupider look! The BAR [Bureau of Automotive Repair] said that due to their gross incompetence that I "...owe them nothing!" This came out a full year later when they tried to again charge my MC Acct.!

Going to AAMCO Transmission is like going to a Denist you know has no pain killers - your lible to get the same work done [or not] but its sure going to hurt!

Aamco in Roanoke rocks!

The Aamco station in Roanoke, VA on orange ave. rocks! Even though they didn't get it repaired right the first time (spent $900 and 1 week later). When I called, the manager, Mary Casey, was very helpful and said "please bring it back in right away!" They fixed it in a couple of days and now it works better than new (Isuzu Rodeo). Even though the ticket wasn't written out right and they were going to charge me again the on-duty manager, Mike King, remembered that I had already had it in for this problem and said "here are the keys, have a nice day." Take your cars there!

AAMCO of Alexandria VA - VERY BAD

Do not take your car to the AAMCO transmission "service" center in Alexandria, VA - on Pickett Street. We paid for a brand new transmission there a little over a year ago and have had nothing but problems since then (the shoddy repairs only held together for a few weeks to a few months at a time - we have been back SEVEN TIMES in the last 15 months, even though we paid for and should have received a brand new transmission) and now we're being told that our warranty (which is supposed to entitle us to 12 months of TROUBLE-FREE service) is up, even though we never ever even got close to 12 months of trouble-free service. All we want is to have our car fixed for the money we spent ($3200), and not only are we out the money and not able to drive the car, it has been in this shop for much of the last year, since every time we take it in with a problem (actually the same problem, over and over) they sat on it for a week or two before they even looked at it. Don't EVER EVER take your car there. Your money and time are too valuable. Go to someone who actually knows what they're doing.

As a shop owner, I am sorry to hear that you had to go through this. I would have installed a remanufactured unit by the third try and not repaired, or paid another shop to do it for us.

Sometimes it just takes another set of eyes/mind/hands to find the problem overlooked by one. This stresses the importance of choosing a shop not based on price, but many other factors such as ASE certifications, years in business under same ownership, cleanliness, customer service, and overall reputation.

Really?? sounds like you work for Aamco..a complete rebuild kits costs between $170 and $220....none are harder than others..parts come out and parts go back in..simple and basic if you know what you are doing..which apparently the "techs" at Aamco do not

Dumb Dumb, AAMCO doesn't even sell NEW transmissions. ALL of them are rebuilt.

I am sure you drive one of them cars or truck that has cronic transmission problems - this really isn't AAMCO transmissions fault. Some transmissions are much harder to rebuild than others.
